Eligibility

Low-income adults experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness who are unable to work for at least 90 days due to a physical or mental incapacity and who are ineligible for the Aged, Blind or Disabled cash assistance program. Eligibility is determined by DSHS. Financial assistance is limited and prioritized based on need.

Application process

Apply in person at a local DSHS Community Services Office, online at washingtonconnection.org, or by calling the DSHS Customer Service line. Once DSHS has determined medical and financial eligibility, they will provide a referral to the regional HEN provider.

Supports those DSHS has qualified for the HEN program. Helps clients obtain personal health and hygiene items (such as toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper), cleaning supplies (such as laundry and dish soap), and bus passes.  Assistance cannot be provided through gift cards, vouchers, or certificates. Offers limited financial assistance for housing that may include monthly rent, overdue rent, security deposit, and service animal deposits. Utilities assistance is limited to electricity, natural gas, sewer, water, garbage, and utility deposits if funding is available.
