Low Income Public Housing offered by Seattle Housing Authority

Applicants with income of 30% or less of Area Median Income or who are homeless receive priority on the waitlist. Households earning 30%-80% are eligible to apply but rarely reach the top of waiting lists, because priority is given to those with income at or below 30%. For the Low-Income Public Housing or Seattle Senior Housing Program, you do not need to be a U. S. citizen at the time of application. However, at the time of move-in at least one household member must either be a U. S. citizen or have eligible immigration status. Full assistance is provided to households where every member has verified eligible immigration status. Pro-rated assistance is provided to households with at least one member with eligible immigration status.

No fees for application. 30% of adjusted income for rent. Minimum rent required of about $50. Security deposits required at time of leasing, based on unit size. No security deposit assistance available.

Provides conventional low-income public housing throughout the city of Seattle. Housing is offered in designated high-rises, townhouses and garden communities, all owned by the Seattle Housing Authority and subsidized by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Long waiting lists exist for all programs; does not offer emergency housing.
Seattle Housing Authority
Administers subsidized, locally and federally funded public housing and Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) programs to provide low-cost rentals/housing throughout Seattle. Some properties are reserved for seniors and adults with disabilities.
