Eligibility

Serves kinship families in Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Lincoln and Okanogan counties. Kinship families are formed when grandparents or other relatives care for children whose own parents are unable to care for them. The arrangement can be informal and private; in other situations, the local child welfare agency is involved.

Description

Assists kinship families in locating needed resources and services. Accompanies families to CPS, Family Court, and school IEP meetings to provide support and reassurance. Administers the Kinship Caregiver Support Program which offers a one-time financial grant to low-income kinship families. Funds can be used for: - Food, Clothing, Basic Needs - School & Youth Activities - Emergency Utility Assistance - Emergency Rental Assistance - Transition Counseling - Transportation Assistance Coordinates kinship caregiver support groups. Unable to provide legal advice or assist in completing any legal paperwork.

Under contract with Aging and Long-Term Supports Administration, a division of DSHS. Administers state and federal resources to assist disabled and older persons to remain in their homes as long as possible. AACCW directly provides Information & Assistance (Access Services), Family Caregiver Support, Long-term Care Ombuds and Mental Health Ombuds services.  Contracted Services include: In-home Personal Care Services under both Medicaid and non-Medicaid programs; Respite Care; Legal Services for Seniors; Senior Transportation; Senior Nutrition; Personal Emergency Response Systems to name a few.
