Description

Conducts autopsies when indicated such as after a sudden, unexpected or unnatural death. Provides requested copies of autopsy and investigator reports to family members of the deceased. If toxicology testing is performed, the toxicology report is supplemental to the autopsy report.

Investigates and determines the cause and manner of sudden, violent, suspicious and non-natural deaths occurring in King County. Administers the indigent disposition program, which provides cremation funds for deceased persons, if next of kin cannot be found or if person and immediate family have no assets.
