Teens and young adults who have a psychotic disorder, such as schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, or are at risk of developing one. Psychosis can include a range of experiences, such as: - Hearing voices or seeing things that other people don’t hear or see. - Having trouble knowing what is real and what is not. - Having trouble with memory, concentration or speaking. People with psychosis often have other mental health conditions at the same time. Examples include substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety or depression. The team in the Psychosis Program sees patients who have psychosis along with other conditions.

Interpreter services

Complete a 90-minute evaluation and intake appointment. Provider referral needed to schedule. Referrals accepted from primary care providers, mental health providers, school health providers or another provider in the community or at Seattle Children’s.

Description

Offers clinic-based and telehealth treatment for psychosis, with some additional services available for youth who have recently experienced their first episode of psychosis. Brings together team members with different training and skills to support children and families in multiple ways at the same time. Treatment may include: - Diagnostic evaluation for psychosis - Individual therapy, including cognitive behavior therapy for psychosis - Family intervention to strengthen support at home. - Peer support services where others with similar mental health experiences share their stories - Support for employment and education - Medicine evaluation or management
