Housing Repair Program offered by City of Federal Way

Eligibility

Homeowners who are under 80% of Area Median Income. Must have a Deed of Trust filed with the King County Auditor’s Office.

Hours

8am to 5pm from Monday through Friday

Application process

Call for more information. Once application and supporting documents are submitted, it takes about four weeks for the city to complete the eligibility evaluation.

Offers loans up to $15,000 for emergency home repairs. It is a zero interest loan that is due upon the sale or transfer of the home, or the homeowner  moves out. Eligible types of repairs:
  • Most emergency situations such as an inoperable furnace or hot water heater, roofs, potentially hazardous plumbing or electrical systems or water intrusion issues.
  • Other issues that threaten the safety and/or health of the household are eligible.
DOES NOT HELP WITH:
  • Cosmetic improvements
  • Routine maintenance
  • Appliance repairs
  • Repairs to separate porches, rooms, or garages
  • Sidewalk repair
  • Painting of interior or exterior surfaces
