Eligibility
Students enrolled in Everett Public Schools, who are either in foster care, or who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence: Temporarily sharing housing; living in motels or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative accommodations; using as a nighttime residence a public or private place not ordinarily designed for sleeping; living in emergency shelters or transitional housing.

Implements the McKinney-Vento Act and the Foster Care Education programs in Everett Public Schools. Ensures that youth experiencing certain housing situations have the opportunity to succeed in school by organizing transportation to their school of origin (if feasible) or assisting them with enrollment in their local school without delay. Also provides referrals to health care, dental, mental health and other appropriate services. Under the McKinney-Vento act, eligible students have certain rights including the right to attend their school of origin if it is determined to be in the child's best interest and to have transportation assistance if the temporary living situation is outside of the regular school boundaries, as long as the transportation is feasible.
