Provides garbage containers in several sizes. Recycling items collected include: - Cans and bottles - Paper goods, including newspapers and magazines - Milk, juice and soy milk containers - Round plastic containers - Plastic bags (bagged together) - Ferrous metals (items that stick to a magnet but only if they are clean and free of plastic, wood, rubber, etc. ) Seattle residents are supplied with free containers for recycled goods. Flyers explaining recycling are available in a variety of languages.

Contracts with private collection businesses to provide garbage, yard waste and recycling collection. Provides solid waste disposal facilities and operates two transfer stations. Offers recycling, composting, drinking water and water quality information, as well as brochures on environmental topics. Provides financial assistance to eligible customers.
