Antiharassment Protection Orders / Stalking Protection Orders offered at Pierce County District Court

To file a protection order the Court must have the harasser's full name, address, and any other information about the individual including date of birth and/or driver's license number. It will take about an hour to complete the required forms. A form can also be filled out and submitted online. Once submitted online, there will be a confirmation number and a person has 72 hours to go to the court house to pay the filing fees. Anti-harassment petitions are processed daily if filed before 11am. Filings after 11am will be heard the next business day. No filings accepted after 3pm.
It is a total cost of $98 ($83 pays for the filing fee, and $15 pays for three certified copies). No fees for Anti-Stalking orders. The filing fee will not be refunded if the petition is not granted by the judge. Personal checks are not accepted. Filing fees and costs may be waived if the filer provides information on their income. There is no guarantee that the fees will be waived.

An individual may request an order of protection that may prohibit harassment, contact and restrain a person from coming within a specific distance of the filer's workplace, school, or residence. State law requires that there be a knowing and willful course of conduct directed at a specific person which seriously alarms, annoys, harasses or is detrimental to the person and serves no legitimate or lawful purpose.
