Provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices. Veterans can call the hotline and press 1 to reach the Veterans Hotline and speak confidentially with a counselor through a program developed in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. American Indians and Alaska Natives can text NATIVE to 741741 to connect with someone at the Native and Strong Helpline.

Also offers a chat and text service to listen and support anyone who is depressed, despairing, going through a hard time, or just needs to talk, including people who are thinking about suicide.
