Working Families Tax Credit offered by Washington State Department of Revenue

Provides information about Washington's Working Families Tax Credit such as who is eligible, how to apply, and how much families may receive. The refund returns a portion of sales tax paid each year. Program is similar to the federal Earned Income Tax Credit program. Depending on income and number of children, households may be eligible for $300 and $1,200.

Application process

Apply online or by mailing a paper application along with the household's 2022 federal tax return. Staff at select community organizations are also available to assist with the application. Some federal income tax preparation software companies have added the WFTC application to their systems which means residents can apply for the credit at the same time they file their federal income tax return. Eligibility

Must have lived in Washington state for at least six months in 2022. Must file a federal income tax form for 2022. Must meet federal EITC income requirements.
