Energy Assistance offered at Pierce County Human Services Community Action Programs
Provides heating bill payment assistance to low-income individuals and families. Receives LIHEAP (federal funds to help with heat), and Puget Sound Energy Funds. Administers State Home Energy Assistance Program (SHEAP) Funds. Serves residents living in Pierce County, outside the city limits of Tacoma. Energy assistance program may help with furnace repair or air conditioning/cooling systems. Energy assistance funds can help with the heating portion of a bill that is included in the rent.

Application process
Call the appointment line to schedule an appointment, (855) 798-4328 (HEAT). Line opens Monday - Thursday at 7am. Appointments typically fill up within 10 minutes of the line opening. If you do not get an appointment, call again the next business day at 7am. If utilities have been disconnected call (253) 798-3590 to schedule an in-person appointment (only if funds are available). Can also apply online. Appointments are scheduled for the application to be completed over the phone, so clients will not have to come into the office. The application is then mailed to the client for review, signature, and to get copies of supporting documentation.

Eligibility
Must live outside of the Tacoma City Limits, but within Pierce County. Residents do not need a disconnect notice to receive assistance. Visit website for current income limits.

This goal is accomplished through child and family services, energy assistance, weatherization and housing services, and home repair services.
