Veterans Treatment Court offered at Seattle Municipal Court
Offers a voluntary court-monitored long-term therapeutic treatment program that addresses the mental health and and/or substance use disorder issues of the veteran defendant. Is not a diversion program but sentencing will be outside the City's traditional sentencing guidelines. Participating defendants will receive assistance establishing VA benefits.

Eligibility
Veterans who have been discharged honorably or generally under honorable conditions, with at least two years of active duty service. Participants must be eligible for VA Health Care Services. Must meet one of the following criteria: - Mental health disorder (Veterans with major mental illnesses may be ineligible and instead referred to Mental Health Court. - Substance use disorder Must also: - Have a connection between the mental health diagnosis and a criminal charge. - Be motivated to make a lifestyle change.
