Senior Companions Description: Seniors aged 55 and older, who are active and still driving, are matched with older seniors who no longer drive and need assistance with doctor's visits, shopping, and/or simply companionship. It is not home health nor housekeeping. Senior Companions must pass a background check and attend monthly training meetings. They are paid an hourly tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement, and other perks. The program works to enable older seniors living alone to stay in their homes longer, reduces loneliness, and fosters long-lasting friendships. There is no age limit or income stipulation, and it's a free service.
