Description

Coordinated Entry is a homeless crisis response system. Participating agencies offer assistance to people experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence through coordinated entry locations throughout the county. After screening, a qualified individual or family will be able to speak with a housing specialist in Pierce County to help problem-solve their crisis. If a resolution can be found that only needs minimal assistance, the household is enrolled in a Diversion intervention. If the household needs a deeper level of assistance, the housing specialist will enroll the household in the Priority Pool for potential referral into a housing program in Pierce County. Referrals to Rapid Rehousing or Permanent Supportive Housing programs are based on a process that prioritizes households with the most vulnerability or housing barriers. A referral depends on housing availability and the family's needs. To connect with Coordinated Entry in Pierce County, a household may call Access Pierce or visit one of the drop-in locations for information and screening. If eligible, the individual will then talk with a housing specialist to discuss housing options. The conversation with the housing specialist will usually last an hour to 90 minutes. Housing assistance through Coordinated Entry offers the same program benefits whether through a housing specialist at Associated Ministries, Catholic Community Services, Access Pierce, or another participating agency.
