Pre-College Programs offered at North Seattle College
Offers multiple pre-college programs. Adult Basic Education (ABE) is comprised of three programs designed to teach foundational skills of reading, writing, math and technology so adults can move through high school and college and into high-demand jobs. Programs are designed for adults with academic skills below high school completion level or who need to improve their skills. General Education Development Helps students prepare for the four-part GED test. Successful completion of the four-part test (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies) earns a GED certificate. GED certification is equivalent to a high school education and is usually accepted in place of a diploma. ESL Classes help with reading, writing and grammar, speaking and listening, pronunciation, career preparation and computer skills. Classes are available in six levels, from beginner to college-ready. High School Completion Provides adults 19 years or older an opportunity to earn a high school diploma in a college setting, substituting college classes for remaining high school requirements. High school completion classes (English, math, history, science) are scheduled in the evenings to accommodate adult students with daytime jobs.
