AARP Smart Driver will be offered at the Des Moines Activity Center The class will be taught by certified volunteer instructor Joel Ferguson. Since 1979, AARP Driver Safety has helped nearly 20 million people stay safe, educated and confident on the road. AARP Smart Driver course participants will learn: •Valuable defensive driving skills •Proven safety strategies •How to stay current with the latest driving technologies •The current rules of the road, specific to your community •How to manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time This course now includes new videos and updated course content, so you will have the most up-to date information for your state. Many participants may be eligible for a multi-year insurance discount after taking the course. Participants are encouraged to check with their insurance agent to see if they are eligible. There are no tests required to pass the course.

Provides a wide range of services and activities for adults ages 50 and older such as lunch, Meals on Wheels, blood pressure checks, classes, social activities, trips, transportation to and from the center, as well as other services.
