Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program offered at Aging and Disability Resource Center in Pomeroy

Eligibility
Residents of Garfield County who
  • Are ages 60 or older (55+ if American Indian/Alaska Native)
  • Have income below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level
Must be age 60 or 55 by June 15th of the year applying. Income must be no more than $2,461 per month for one person or $3,336 for two people. For each additional person, add $876.

8am to 4pm from Monday through Friday

Provides low-income older adults with vouchers to purchase unprocessed, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey from authorized farmers markets and farm stores. The program:
  • Supports healthy eating
  • Helps stretch food budgets
  • Connects participants to local agriculture
Participants receive a one-time seasonal benefit of $80 loaded onto an electronic benefits card. Benefits can be used to buy items such as apples, berries, leafy greens, tomatoes, peppers and squash. Funds can only be used during the current market season, which runs from June through October. Complete the proxy form to allow family members to use the card. Free phone app allows users to track their benefit balance and purchase history as well as locate authorized markets.
