Intake and Brief Intervention offered at Harborview Medical Center's Mental Health and Addiction Services
Operates a short term mental health clinic with next day appointments for adults seeking assistance with mental health crises. Services include assessment, triage, referral, and brief intervention services. Short-term treatment services, when appropriate, may include psychiatric evaluation, prescription of medication, medication monitoring, and case management. Coordinates with other Harborview departments and University of Washington Medical Clinics to serve persons with mental health needs. If requested, may assist families of patients with acute psychiatric problems while the patient is in services. Next day appointments (NDAs, occur one to two business days after the initial screening) are available for adults. Children and adolescents needing NDAs or crisis outreach are referred to Children's Hospital and Medical Center or the YMCA's CCORS program.

Fee
Initial screening and assessment is free; sliding scale fee available with other services. Accepts insurance or private pay, although fees will be reviewed for subsidy based on individual client financial need. Accepted insurance includes WA Apple Health (Medicaid); Medicare, and other eligible commercial or managed care plans (with referral and authorization).
