Informal, unpaid caregiver age 18 years of age or older who provides in-home care, assistance with daily activities, or manages the care of a loved who lives in Kitsap County and who does not receive Medicaid funded, in-home services and is not living in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or adult family home.

Description

The Caregiver Support Center offers an opportunity for unpaid caregivers, helping an adult in Kitsap County, to meet with a case manager, check out books from a lending library, and obtain brochures, tip sheets, and resource lists at no cost. Unpaid caregivers may also inquire about scholarship eligibility for caregiver training, education, or workshop opportunities.

Kitsap County Aging and Long-Term Care (ALTC) is a Division of Kitsap County Human Services Department and is the state-designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Kitsap County. ALTC can provide information and services for older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers that reside in Kitsap County either by phone, at the agency's office, email, community outreach events, or within agencies throughout the county. The agency receives state and federal funding to determine eligibility for a multitude of services, provide education in the community, and provide a variety of programs to support older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers. ALTC helps individuals live as independently as they choose through needs assessment, advocacy, person-centered planning, caregiver support, and in-home care services. There are also subcontracted services available to individuals, such as Meals on Wheels home delivered meals, respite services for caregivers, legal assistance, dementia consultation, Senior Famers Market program, exercise, food assistance and fall prevention.
