Children must be 18 years of age or younger. The requirements to become a CASA volunteer are the following: High School Diploma and/or GED, at least 21 years of age, complete a criminal background check, attend the initial 34-hour training, attend 12 hours of in-service training each year, have eight to ten hours a month to devote to a case, maintain strict confidentiality, maintain current and complete files on each assigned case, keep your supervisor informed regarding the status of the case and confer with him/her as needed, remain aware of deadlines and timetables involving an assigned case and turn in a report on time, and keep a complete monthly record of the number of hours worked, number of child visits, and duties performed on the case.
