Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance offered by Public Health in Seattle & King County's Access & Outreach

Provides information as well as enrollment assistance for Qualified Health plans available under the Affordable Care Act as well as Medicaid. Coordinates health insurance enrollment events in local communities where residents can get help enrolling in Washington Healthplanfinder for health insurance coverage. The events are listed by King County geographic regions. City of Seattle events are additionally organized by geographic sections of the city. Certified customer-service experts are available to provide individual help with comparing and enrolling in health insurance coverage and, if eligible, help residents gain access to tax credits, reduced cost sharing, and public programs such as WA Apple Health (Medicaid). In order to enroll, participants will need to know their birth date, social security number, and income. Legal immigrants will need to supply a passport, alien or other immigration numbers.

1-800-756-5437 Kingcounty.gov/coverage A new customer can sign up for a Qualified Health Plan during the standard open enrollment period, which runs from November through January. Special enrollment in Healthplanfinder is available at any time to people whose circumstances change, such as getting married, having a child or changing jobs. Those who qualify for Washington Apple Health may also enroll year-round, as well as American Indians/Alaska Natives. Qualifying Life Event: Washington residents who have a qualifying life event are eligible to sign up during a special enrollment period. This means you can enroll in a new plan or change your current health insurance plan outside the open enrollment period. Some of these life events include   -  Getting married -  Having or adopting a baby -  Moving to a new coverage area -  Losing other health care coverage. Special enrollment period lasts 60 days from the date of the qualifying life event.

Fee

Depending on how much you earn, you can qualify for a free or low-cost health plan, or be eligible for financial help that can lower the cost of your premiums and copays. Free or low-cost health coverage options are provided through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) or Qualified Health Plans with tax credits.

Refers low-income King County residents to health care providers, including providers of obstetrics, pediatrics, dental care (including the ABCD program) and women's health care. Refers eligible men and women to locations of the Washington Breast, Cervical and Colon Health Program. Helps low-income King County residents apply for ORCA-LIFT, the reduced-fare program for King County Metro. Also helps residents apply for health insurance, including WA Apple Health (Medicaid) and qualified health plans through the exchange.
