Eligibility

Suqamish tribal members and their families as well as other federally recognized tribal members who are pregnant, new parents, breast and chest feeding parents, infants, and children under age 5 who are at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Call to make an appointment. Applicants must complete a nutrition assessment to determine nutritional risk.

Helps improve the health of low-income pregnant people, new parents, infants, and young children through:
  • Nutrition education
  • Breast and chest feeding support
  • Healthy foods
  • Health screenings and referrals
Participants receive benefits through an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card that can be used at authorized grocery stores to purchase approved foods such as milk, eggs, cereal, fruits, and vegetables. Monthly food benefits vary by participant type and household size but are valued at approximately $150 for a family of two per month. Provides extra foods for those breast and chest feeding, as well as iron-fortified formula for non-breastfed babies. Farmers Market Nutrition Program Participants can receive additional seasonal produce vouchers to buy local, unprocessed fruits and vegetables at authorized farmers markets. WIC staff can only apply farmers market benefits to adults who are listed on the WIC account. Online Ordering Washington WIC shoppers can order eligible foods online from Walmart for delivery or free pick-up. WIC does not cover delivery and shipment fees. Not all addresses are eligible for delivery. The Suquamish Tribe offers social services to enrolled Suquamish Native Americans and other enrolled Tribal Members living on the Port Madison Indian Reservation. Other programs include: a G.E.D. and other educational programs, employment readiness, commodities (food), and WIC (food vouchers for women and infants). The commodities and WIC services are available to non-Tribal Members. College assistance for Native American's only.  Youth center, Chief Kitsap Academy and Head Start open to all persons.
