Description
Provides a detention center for those who have committed juvenile offenses. A juvenile with an adjudicated offense may be confined for up to 30 days on a court order. A juvenile facing an alleged offense may also be held if a secure setting is needed to guarantee public safety or the youth's presence while their case moves forward. Offers services for youth in detention, including medical and mental health assessments, evaluation for special needs and appropriate placement in detention. Seattle Public Schools provide teachers and a regular curriculum, including special education. On-site library staffed by librarians from King County Library System is available, as well as regularly scheduled church services, on-site NA and AA meetings, and an anger management program. Also provides Alternatives to Secure Detention which match the level of restriction to a youth's level of risk to self and public safety. ASD program is comprised of Electronic Monitoring and Weekend Reporting. Group home beds are also available as placement options.
