Yakima Area Arboretum

Offers a "living tree and plant museum" with over a 1000 labeled tree and plant specimens on 46 acres of managed land. The Arboretum features an assortment of tree and plant collections, and a number of different display gardens including Japanese, Rose, IPM, Dryland, Butterfly, Iris, and Xeric.  There is also a natural area with an interpretive trail and an orienteering course. Self-guided tour maps of the grounds are available. The Jewett Interpretive Center features the Heritage of Trees display, herbarium, library, gift shop, and full service meeting facility. Special events at the Arboretum include the spring Arbor Festival and plant sale, Garden Tour, the fall Autumn Bounty Auction and December's Luminaria event, which involves a mile long candle-lit walk through the Arboretum to central Washington's largest lighted Christmas Tree.
