Energy Assistance offered at MDC - Metropolitan Development Council - Housing Services

Provides utility assistance to economically disadvantaged persons to support their home heating needs. Two distinct programs may be used by residents within the Tacoma City Limits depending on eligibility requirements and funding for each program. PSE gas and TPU customers can still receive assistance. Low-income Heating and Energy Assistance Program provides assistance to individuals and families who meet the income eligibility requirements. Assistance goes to the primary source of heat (electric, gas, heating oil, wood or pellets). For customers that have an alternate heating source, and an electric bill, the assistance may be split between the two, if program guidelines are met. PSE Help - Provides utility assistance for gas heat to PSE customers in the Tacoma City Limits who meet income guidelines. State Home Energy Assistance Program (SHEAP) Helps individuals and families who are making up to 80% of the Area Median Income with an energy bills and move to low-to-no carbon heating and cooling options.
