Eligibility

Washington residents who:
  • Are pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding parent, or an infant or child under age 5. Fathers, foster parents, and other guardians can also apply on behalf of a qualifying child.
  • Have a household income below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Families receiving Medicaid (Apple Health), SNAP, or TANF are automatically income-eligible for WIC.
  • Have a nutritional risk (assessed at time of appointment).

Helps improve the health of pregnant people, new parents, infants, and young children through:
  • Nutrition education
  • Breast and chest feeding support
  • Healthy foods
  • Health screenings and referrals
Participants receive benefits through an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card that can be used at authorized grocery stores to purchase approved foods such as milk, eggs, cereal, fruits, and vegetables. Monthly food benefits vary by participant type and household size. Provides extra foods for those breast and chest feeding, as well as iron-fortified formula for non-breastfed babies. Farmers Market Nutrition Program Participants can receive additional seasonal produce vouchers to buy local, unprocessed fruits and vegetables at authorized farmers markets.
