Inpatient Mental Health offered by Swedish Medical Center in Ballard
Provides a voluntary & involuntary, 22-bed, secure psychiatric unit with treatment program focused on acute illness and crisis stabilization for adults. Offers a variety of inpatient groups focused on skill building to respond to crisis. Among the areas addressed in the group program are goal setting, grief and loss, healthy habits and stress management. Medication stabilization and psychopharmacology are also key treatment modalities. Discharge planning emphasizes use of outpatient resources to decrease the need for hospitalization. Community providers are encouraged to participate in treatment and discharge planning.

Call the Psychiatric Admissions through the hospital page operator. Be prepared to provide specific information about health insurance. Community providers requesting services will be asked to secure any necessary pre-authorization for the referred client.
Fee
Room and board charges vary with programs. Additional charges are made for medications and treatments. Private insurance, Medicare and WA Apple Health (Medicaid) accepted.
Eligibility
Adults who meet criteria of need for acute and emergent inpatient hospitalization, require intensive psychiatric care, and cannot be stabilized in the community.
