Eligibility

Youth ages 10-17 in Yakima County; must not be diagnosed with severe psychosis, abusing drugs or alcohol, a threat to self or others, or have violent tendencies.

Hours

9am to 5pm from Monday through Friday

Matches responsible and caring mentors with elevated-risk mentees/youth ages 10-17 in Yakima County. Provides youth with mentors who can provide support, guidance, and opportunities to help youth meet their goals and succeed in life. Mentors volunteer 4 hours per month to work with their mentees for 9 months. Safe Yakima Valley completes thorough background checks on adult mentors. Kids who work with mentors are more likely to perform well in school, graduate, and go on to attend college and have successful, healthy lives.
