Senior/Disabled Discount Program offered at Tacoma Public Utilities

Offers reduced utility rates to Tacoma Public Utility customers who are seniors (62 or older) or receiving state or federal disability income, and meet all of the program requirements.

Application process

Apply online at MyTPU.org/assistance. Customers who do not have internet access or need additional assistance may call Customer Solutions at 253-502-8400.

Eligibility

Must meet following criteria: - be a TPU customer and have the account in your name, - are a single occupant or the head of a household or the spouse of the head of the household, and - be 62 years or older OR a disabled adult who receives a qualifying disability income (SSI, SSA, SSDI, ABD, L&I, or VA for example), and - reside in the dwelling unit full-time, and - have a single-metered residential account (meter cannot serve more than one dwelling), and - household income does not exceed 45% of the area median income. Income Guidelines for January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022: - Household of 1, gross monthly household income up to $2,666 - household of 2, gross monthly household income up to $3,045 - household of 3, gross monthly household income up to $3,428 - household of 4, gross monthly household income up to $3,806 - household of 5, gross monthly household income up to $4,114 - household of 6, gross monthly household income up to $4,418.
