Head Start Program offered at Benton Franklin Head Start

Head Start serves children from 3 to 5 years old. Head Start Preschool: Children ages 3–5 who are not yet eligible for kindergarten Families are eligible if they meet the federal poverty guidelines based on household income and family size. In addition: Families receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), TANF, or SSI are automatically income-eligible. Families experiencing excessive housing costs or other special circumstances may still qualify even if their income is slightly above the guidelines. Programs may also serve a limited number of families who are over-income but demonstrate significant need. Head Start also prioritizes children in foster care, children experiencing homelessness, and children with disabilities.
