Oversees the basic education curriculum for the Seattle Public School district.
Elementary schools emphasize language arts, reading, arts, science, and math.
Middle schools provide a transition to high schools.
Middle school students may choose exploratory programs or electives in a variety of areas from art to computers.
Many middle schools also offer intervention classes and learning labs for students needing extra help.
All high schools provide a wide range of electives and most have specialties in particular areas.
Graduation requirements include a cumulative 2. 0 or above Grade Point Average (GPA), and a 2. 0 or above cumulative GPA in all courses in English/Language Arts/Mathematics/Social Studies/Science and exit standards and service learning requirements.
