Individuals are referred/approved by the King County Prosecutor. Defense attorneys may request cases be transferred to Drug Court after arraignment.

24 community service hours required before graduation from the Drug Diversion Court program.

A voluntary program for adults charged with eligible property crimes and other drug-related felonies in King County Superior Court. Provides case management and comprehensive resources including interim housing to remove barriers and help participants succeed in treatment. Participants attend substance use disorder treatment and regular court hearings, undergo frequent, random urinalysis drug testing, and give back to the community through community service hours. King County Drug Diversion Court (KCDDC) is a minimum 10-month program. On average, participants take about 16 months to complete. When participants successfully complete the program, they graduate, typically resulting in a dismissal of their charge(s). Prior to graduation, participants must meet specific milestones to impart the tools and stability needed to prevent a return to substance use and criminal activity. Participants who do not progress through the program are sentenced on their original charge(s).
