Adoption offered by Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families in Port Townsend
Recruits and screens families interested in adopting children who are in the care and custody of the Department of Social and Health Services. Places waiting children with interested, approved adoptive families and provides adoption planning, preparation and pre- and post- placement services to the adoptive child and family. Assists families adopting special needs children by providing ongoing financial and medical benefits to qualified children based on state and federal regulations. Enhanced services for Indian children are available at the Office of Indian Child Welfare.

Eligibility
No restrictions for general adoption. Special Needs Adoption: Families with a child younger than 18, legally free (parental rights terminated), has special needs, currently in state-funded foster care (or eligible for and likely to be placed in foster care) or be eligible for federal-funded adoption assistance.
