Crisis Respite Program at DESC's Emergency Shelter
Provides ongoing psychiatric stabilization for people discharging from inpatient mental health or substance use treatment settings, emergency rooms and jails. The program maintains 20 beds for single adults, with a flexible, clinically appropriate length of stay. Application process
Referrals are accepted from King County Crisis and Commitment Services, hospital emergency departments, inpatient psychiatric settings, inpatient evaluation and treatment facilities, and Seattle/King County mental health court. Clients must be King County residents or have a documented history of service utilization in King County. Clients must meet the HUD definition of Chronic Homelessness, or the Health Through Housing definition of “at risk” for chronic homelessness. The general wait time for a CRP bed is two to three weeks. If the client discharges from the referring facility before a CRP bed is available, the referral will be withdrawn. Before scheduling a CRP intake, the referring staff will need to verify that the client’s insurance is active, send a 30-day supply of the client’s medications to our pharmacy (see contact information below), and schedule an outpatient mental health intake appointment if the client is not already receiving services.
Fee
