Cooling Center offered at Garfield County Fire District

Eligibility

Open to older and/or frail adults, homeless people, parents with small children, and persons with health conditions that may be made worse by the weather. No one will be turned away.

Application process

Visit in person. Capacity of 30 people. Public Heath will notify the community that the cooling center will be open through social media and flyers posted at various government offices.

Offers location as a cooling center during extreme heat for those who don't have access to air conditioning. Extreme heat designated days will be defined as two consecutive days or more that the weather is forecasted to be 95 degrees or above for more than 4 hours.
