Short- and Long-term Transitional Housing offered by Way Back Inn
Provides short- and long-term transitional housing for families with children. Homes are located in Tukwila and Renton. Average stay for short term between 3- 6 months. Long-term up to 24 months but requires pre-approval. Homes are fully furnished. Families meet with Way Back Inn staff once per week.

Application process
Call the message line to apply with your name, contact information and a brief message including household size. Screens applicants only when there is an opening, so callers may not receive a callback. After speaking with someone, callers should then call no more than once per week to follow up on availability by leaving their information again on the voicemail. Total of 9 units, so openings are not frequent. Does not maintain a waitlist.
Fee
Families contribute a sliding scale % of income toward monthly program fee. Income not required to apply.
Eligibility
Homeless families with at least one child ages 17 or younger. Includes households with two parents, or single mother or father households. Must have full time custody of at least one child. Cannot accommodate households with more than 3 children. Does not accept applicants with a history of violent crimes or who have felonies in last ten years or misdemeanors in the last 5 years. No drug convictions within seven years. No substance abuse issues. Attendance is required at weekly meetings with the Program Manager in order to set and work towards a self-sufficiency plan. Families are required to keep the homes clean and leave the unit as clean or cleaner than when they moved in. Unemployed adults who are able to work are expected to seek employment and work on a plan for self-sufficiency. Non-confidential location - not equipped to handle active DV situations. Children must be enrolled in school immediately after acceptance into program.
