Eligibility
Must be at least 18 years of age to file a claim and the defendant must reside or do business in Pierce County.

M-F, 8:30am-4pm
Application process
To file a small claim there must have the following information:
  • name and address of the person being sued,
  • the exact amount of money that is owed to the filer,
  • the exact date the money became due, and
  • an explanation why the money is owed.
The lawsuit must be filed in the county where the defendant resides or does business.
Fees
The filing fee is $50 and the court accepts cash, Visa, or Mastercard. No personal checks are accepted.

Assists plaintiffs in recovering money or other damages; amount claimed may not exceed $5,000 for case brought by a business, corporation or other business entity. A claim of up to $10,000 may be brought by an individual.
