Description

Provides "Ask a Librarian" information services via phone, e-mail and live internet chat, as well as in person.   Librarians are able to:   -  Answer questions about library services and programs -  Direct patrons to appropriate departments within the library -  Locate and reserve library items -  Provide assistance in using library's online resources    Center also answers reference and trivia questions on many subjects, using a range of reference materials such as almanacs, encyclopedias, handbooks in many fields, and directories for phone numbers, government agencies and Seattle streets.   Calls are limited to three minutes in length or having two requests researched.   Services do not provide stock quotes, or legal or medical advice. However, the service may quote directly from legal, medical and drug dictionaries.

Provides public access to a variety of computer resources, age-specific programs, computer classes, literacy and ESL resources, world language collections and general reference information.
