Provides safe disposal of "sharps" (syringes, needles, and lancets) with the following services: - Accepts sharps at both transfer stations. Sharps disposed at the transfer stations must be put in a puncture resistant container with tight fitting lid such as a plastic bottle. - Removes sharps from public property within 24 hours. - Maintains additional secure sharps disposal boxes throughout the city Sharps are not allowed in the garbage in Seattle because they can injure garbage collection workers, individual residents, and employees that handle the garbage. Always use a designated sharps disposal container for used sharps.
