Homeless Family Coordinated Assessment offered at Catholic Charities Serving Eastern Washington
Provides homeless families with a centralized point of entry to access housing resources such as diversion, rapid rehousing, temporary housing, or permanent supportive housing. Does not provide families with immediate housing.
Provides homeless families in Spokane County with a centralized point of entry to access housing resources.
Families first meet with a Coordinated Entry Specialist, who first determines if a family’s housing crisis can be resolved outside of the formalized homeless response system. If Diversion is not a good fit to meet the household’s needs, a vulnerability assessment is used to pre-screen their eligibility for services.
Once screened, the family is placed in a priority pool. When a vacancy becomes available, households in the pool are connected directly to the housing resource.
Does not provide families with immediate housing. Because homeless housing resources are limited, there is no guarantee of housing. Households are prioritized based on their barriers and vulnerabilities.
Diversion
Helps families identify housing options outside the formal homeless response system. Provides “light touch” case management that helps families to identify solutions to their housing crisis. Collaborates with households to help them avoid or resolve homelessness. Works with families for up to 30 days.

Provides an access point into the homeless crisis response system. Schedule online, or call Access Pierce to get screened/started. All adults in the household must be present for the assessment. Serves those experiencing homelessness or fleeing DV.
Coordinated Entry is a homeless crisis response system. Participating agencies offer assistance to people experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence through coordinated entry locations throughout the county.
After screening, a qualified individual or family will be able to speak with a housing specialist in Pierce County to help problem-solve their crisis. If a resolution can be found that only needs minimal assistance, the household is enrolled in a Diversion intervention. If the household needs a deeper level of assistance, the housing specialist will enroll the household in the Priority Pool for potential referral into a housing program in Pierce County.
Referrals to Rapid Rehousing or Permanent Supportive Housing programs are based on a process that prioritizes households with the most vulnerability or housing barriers. A referral depends on housing availability and the family's needs.
To connect with Coordinated Entry in Pierce County, a household may call Access Pierce or visit one of the drop-in locations for information and screening. If eligible, the individual will then talk with a housing specialist to discuss housing options. The conversation with the housing specialist will usually last an hour to 90 minutes.
Housing assistance through Coordinated Entry offers the same program benefits whether through a housing specialist at Associated Ministries, Catholic Community Services, Access Pierce, or another participating agency.

- Diversion is a fast paced, short-term case management program that can assist the individual/household(s) with solving problems and barriers by utilizing the existing strengths and resources of the individual/household(s). We can assist with limited flexible funding, based on eligibility, in order to assist the individual/household with obtaining permanent housing which can include relocation and other activities that support obtaining permanent.
- Housing and Essential Needs Grant Funds can only be used to support HEN eligible clients that qualify as homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Allowable financial assistance for housing may include monthly rent, overdue rent, security deposit, and service animal deposits. Utilities assistance is limited to electricity, natural gas, sewer, water, garbage, and utility deposits. Essential Needs assistance includes help with obtaining personal health and hygiene items (such as toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper), cleaning supplies (such as laundry and dish soap), and bus passes. Assistance cannot be provided through gift cards, vouchers, or certificates. All HEN clients are eligible to receive essential needs assistance.

Provides rapid rehousing services for homeless Yakima residents. Additionally, offers one-time rental assistance to prevent evictions. Provides essential needs items and rental help for those who are low-income and not able to work for at least 90 days due to their health.

Eviction Prevention
Provides one-time prevention rental assistance to low-income Yakima County residents. Collaborates with Northwest Justice Project and Central Washington Legal Aid to prioritize individuals with a current eviction letter. Limitations on arrears paid and funding availability.
HEN
Provides essential needs items and limited financial assistance for those who are low-income and not able to work for at least 90 days due to their physical and/or mental health. DSHS determines who qualifies for referral to the HEN program. Services provided through the HEN Program may include:
