Assists with identifying and navigating complex social service systems, housing, transportation, preparing for employment, identifying accommodations, personal assistance management, applying for social security, benefits planning, emergency preparedness, and advocacy.
Provides independent living planning to empower people to live independently in their community. Assists with identifying and navigating complex social service systems, housing, transportation, preparing for employment, identifying accommodations, personal assistance management, applying for social security, benefits planning, and advocacy.
- Advocacy: works alongside individuals with disabilities to plan and carry out strategic approaches to influence positive change in the community. Represents and advocates for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities in order to advance the empowerment, inclusion, and wellness of all persons with disabilities.
- Emergency Preparedness: Provides emergency preparedness for disabled individuals by creating a plans in case of a disaster. Helps with fire drills, emergency planning, connection with local EMS, and building an emergency kit.
- Assists individuals or veterans who are needing to find caregiver and helps with making sure their caregiver gets paid. Must be referred by the VA, if they are a veteran; if they are a civilian, then they'll get help finding a state-funded caregiver.
- Has a Covid -19 Advocate that works with individuals with disabilities to help them get a schedule for vaccines, as well as a covid-19 peer support group.
- Assists with Power Action Systems (PAS program), which helps individuals with disabilities be able to get modifications to their household to make it more disability accessible.

Minor Home Repair offered by Sound Generations
Provides home repairs for homeowners of any age who are on limited budgets or have moderate incomes such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Also builds wheelchair ramps and installs handrails. Serves Seattle, Shoreline and Bellevue only.
Our technicians provide minor home repairs for free to certified moderate- and low-income homeowners.
Some of our most common repairs include the following:
- Carpentry: Installs grab bars and hand rails, rebuilds broken steps, repairs rotted and unsafe porches, installs locks and deadbolts.
- Electrical: Replaces light bulbs and installs battery-operated smoke detectors.
- Plumbing: Repairs minor plumbing such as leaking pipes and faucets, clears clogged drains.
Repairs are done to the primary house structure only. Does not provide cosmetic/decorative work such as exterior or interior painting. Does not work on roofs. Does not complete yard work.

Independent Living at Home offered at Housing Resources Bainbridge
Provides home modifications for the health and safety of elderly and disabled Bainbridge Island residents so they may remain in their homes safely.
Provides health and safety home modifications for older adults, people with disabilities, and those coming home to rehab, so that they may remain in their homes safely and independently. Modifications include grab bar installation, accessibility improvements, and weatherization repairs. Program staff provide total project management, making renovations as easy as possible for the client. HRB also offers social service referrals as needed. These services are provided free of charge for households earning at or below 80% area median income and living on Bainbridge Island. They are available for a fee to people who are over income and live elsewhere in Kitsap County.

National Rebuilding Day offered at Rebuilding Together South Sound
Annual event that takes place the last Saturday of every April and brings sponsored teams together with skilled contractors and donated materials to complete repairs at 20 homes in Pierce County and cities of Federal Way and Auburn. May offer 0% interest loans for the Federal Way area. Contact agency for details and confirmation.

Provides financial assistance through loans of up to $35,000 single family homes or $18,000 for mobile homes for basic home repairs. Priorities of the rehabilitation program are to address:
- Exterior repairs.
- Roof repair/replacement.
- Gutters.
- Electrical, plumbing, or mechanical repairs to existing systems.
- Reconstruction or replacement of structural components.

Environmental Modifications : Physical adaptations to a home are necessary to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the resident and allow them to function with greater independence.

- Minor bathroom modifications such as grab bars
Critical Home Repairs: Essential repairs are necessary to ensure the structural integrity and/or ongoing livability of a home.
Critical Home Repairs include, but are not limited to:
- Roof, repair/replacement
- Repair of structural defects or damage
- Repair or replacement of HVAC components or water heaters
Following are examples of work NOT covered under this program:
- Painting (interior or exterior)
- Cabinetry
- Fences
- Work on unoccupied structures like garages or sheds
- Cosmetic repairs are not necessary for health or safety
- Major electrical or major plumbing
- Sewer
- Mold or pest remediation

Sponsors home repair work events where volunteers renovate the homes of low-income Seattle area homeowners who are veterans, seniors, living with disabilities or have children and are unable to perform the work themselves. *Currently have some limited funding for any applicant (not just veterans) at 80% AMI or below (call to verify if they are within the 50-80% range), limits can also be found on website.
