Life Skills education programs teach concepts and principles relevant to a healthy lifestyle. Requires landlords to offer tenants, early notice and, for low income-tenants, relocation assistance if tenants must move out of their rental unit due to: - The unit being torn down or renovated   - The unit's use being changed - The unit being illegal - The landlord being required to reduce the number of unrelated tenants living there - The unit being ordered vacated and closed   - Emergency conditions caused by the landlord.   Relocation assistance is paid directly to the tenant.   Also requires landlords to give a reason for asking a tenant to move.

Provides financial assistance to tenants who have been informed by their landlords of any housing cost increase totaling 10% or more within the same 12 month period and the tenant decides to move. The City will process tenant applications and advance payment of three times the current monthly housing cost to eligible households. All rental housing cost increases in Seattle require 180 days advance written notice. When an increase equals or exceeds 10% in a 12 month period, by a single increase or multiple increases, landlords must attach an EDRA notice that informs tenants about the program.

Kinship Caregivers Support Services Program provides financial assistance to kinship caregivers (grandparents and relatives raising children) and assists them in obtaining resources necessary to help stabilize the family.   We can help pay for the cost of emergent needs incurred by grandparents or other relatives at the time a child comes to live with them, such as:   Clothing purchase   Food   Basic Supplies   Housing   Childcare   Relocation costs   Utility assistance

Prevents homelessness by providing emergency one-time relief to low-income Lakewood residents displaced from their homes through no fault of their own due to City or Fire Department initiated code or building closures. Provides assistance to families that are displaced and effectually rendered homeless due to emergency, health, and/or safety violations. Types of qualifying events: - Displacements under red tag violations that deem the rental property uninhabitable due to health and safety violations. Issuing authority is the City of Lakewood, Building Inspection division; - Displacement of renters in residential fires. Issuing authority is Lakewood Fire Department/City of Lakewood; - Displacement of low-income mobile home park tenants (may be owners) with no homeowner's insurance due to fire and/or red tag health and safety violations. Issuing authority is Lakewood Fire Department or the City of Lakewood. - Displacement of low-income renters due to condemnation through police (drug) raids. Issuing authority is Lakewood Police Department/City of Lakewood. Priorities: - Relocate families displaced and rendered homeless due to emergency, health and/or safety violations. - Families are qualified as low-income citizens at or below 80% of HUD median income. - A family unit is comprised of one or two adults and their legal children, living at the location of displacement. In instances where two or more families exist at the same location, verification of shared housing shall be provided through a valid lease identifying each party as valid tenants. Family size shall be considered on a case-by-case basis when relocating temporarily or permanently to ensure adequate dwelling(s) size. Eligible Reimbursements: - Emergency overnight shelter including hotel/motel voucher reimbursement. - Screening fees and/or non-refundable deposits to secure permanent housing - Moving and storage fees related to relocating families to permanent housing - Reasonable case management fees to non-profit service providers - Reasonable tenant documentation expenses (i.e. copying, filing fees, etc.) necessary to provide program required documentation.

Provides relocation assistance for manufactured/mobile home owners who must relocate due to community closure or community conversion to another use. The programs were established through state laws that allow household support through the closure process and a combination of cash assistance for eligible homeowners and reimbursement of actual demolition and disposal costs for community owners. Eligible tenants may receive cash assistance up to $11,000 for a single-section home or up to $17,000 for a multi-section home. Cash assistance is provided in two payments: the first when a household is determined eligible, the second when a household either signs over title of their home to the community owner or upon removal of their home from the community. Community owners may seek reimbursement from the Relocation Assistance Program for allowable demolition and disposal costs associated with eligible households. Community owners may request up to $5,500 for a single-section home and up to $8,500 for a multi-section home. Manufactured/Mobile Home Relocation Assistance Program and Relocation Coordination Program Managers work with resident homeowners in closing manufactured/mobile home communities to help them with the application and financial assistance processes as well as housing transition.
