National train service operates one short distance train, The Cascades, (4 daily round trip trains between Portland and Seattle; 2 daily round trip trains between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, Canada, and 2 daily round trip trains between Eugene and Portland) Also operates two long-distance trains: The Coast Starlight (daily between Los Angeles-Portland-Seattle) and The Empire Builder (daily Chicago-Minneapolis-Spokane-Seattle/Portland).   Amtrak passengers can use Greyhound to make connections to cities not served by rail on Amtrak Thruway service, by purchasing a ticket for the bus connection from Amtrak in conjunction with the purchase of their rail ticket. If passengers desire, they may also buy a bus ticket directly from Greyhound.
