Advocates for abused and neglected children. Recruits and trains volunteers for Guardian-ad-Litem and Court-Appointed Special Advocates programs.

Equips and empowers court appointed volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children and youth who have endured abuse or neglect so that they will have safety, permanency and wellbeing.

CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to speak up for abused and neglected children. They work, with confidence, as thoroughly trained advocates for the children they represent.   Volunteers investigate a child’s history, facilitate communication between concerned adults, advocate for services and appropriate placement, and ultimately make recommendations to the judge in that child’s best interest.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers and guardian ad litem provide advocacy in court and the community for the rights of children who are subject to child welfare and court intervention due to abandonment, abuse, or neglect. CASA's purpose is to secure a safe and permanent home for each child served as quickly as possible.

At Juvenile Court hearings regarding abuse and neglect, a trained volunteer may be appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of the child and to speak on behalf of the child for the duration of the court proceedings.   The Dependency Court Appointed Special Advocate investigates the child's situation, makes written recommendations to the court, attends court hearings and monitors court orders.   Volunteers must complete 30 hours of mandatory training before accepting a case. Additional 12 hours of training are required per year.

Deals with criminal and civil cases, including: crimes against persons, property crimes, divorce juvenile crimes, probate of estates, personal injury actions, adoption, mental illness, matters of domestic violence, dependencies, and other civil actions.

Assists children with dependency issues that are either living with a relative or guardian when they have been removed from a home with domestic violence, abuse, neglect, and other issues. Serving as advocates for children facing abuse and neglect in family court, present reports and recommendations regarding the child's well-being to the court.

Serves as an independent advocate for abused/neglected children birth to 18 years involved in a dependency action. Volunteers are appointed by the court to investigate, gather information, provide written reports, and make recommendations regarding the child's best interest; volunteers are recruited, trained, and supported by staff.
