The City of Spokane Public Defender’s Office represents eligible people facing a loss of liberty from criminal charges within the City of Spokane.

The Spokane County Public Defender office protects the rights, liberties, and dignity of all persons in the County unable to afford legal counsel by providing the finest legal representation and maintain the integrity and fairness of the justice system.

Provides services related to civil traffic infractions and all criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor incidents that occur within the city of Black Diamond and are filed with the court. Payment of fines may be made at the court, over the phone or online. The court schedules infraction hearings, arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencing, etc. The court provides related services including applying for legal representation for indigent individuals and public defense screener services.

Provides attorneys to people who are financially eligible and who are facing certain kinds of criminal and civil proceedings. Screens adult clients for juvenile record sealing, juvenile sex offender registration relief, and juvenile restitution modifications. Handles adult cases, including King County misdemeanors, misdemeanor appeals, felonies, involuntary commitment, sex predator commitment and contempt of court cases.  Public defenders also handle juvenile cases, dependency cases, and Becca cases, including Truancy, Child in Need Services (CHINS) and At Risk Youth (ARY).   Cases are assigned to a division based upon the type of charge. Some divisions are only in certain courts or handle a particular case type. Clients are also screened for conflicts with the divisions. Every effort is taken to avoid conflicts between attorneys and their clients.  Attorneys are not permitted to represent a client who was a witness, victim, or co-defendant on a previous case the attorney represented.

Court has jurisdiction over all violations of the Seattle Municipal Code. Hears misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic and non-traffic infractions, and parking violations. Those charged with a criminal, jailable offense may be eligible for a public defender at the public's expense.

The municipal court is a court of limited jurisdiction.   The municipal court judge is authorized by Washington state statute to preside over the following types of cases:   - Non-traffic infractions - Traffic infractions - Criminal misdemeanors   - Gross misdemeanors - Domestic Violence Moral Recognition Therapy - Resource Closet (resources available to everyone) The court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencing, reviews, etc.   The court supervises related services including legal representation for indigent persons, probation and interpreter services.

Provides over-the-phone legal information and advice for individuals who have criminal, CPS or APS issues.

Provides services related to civil traffic infractions and all infraction-criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor incidents.  Schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencing, etc.  Provides related services, including legal representation for indigent persons, probation supervision and public defense screener services.

Provides mandated legal services to indigent persons - accused of crimes in the Pierce County Superior Court; Pierce County District Court; Municipal Courts in Tacoma, Fircrest, and Ruston; - and Pierce County Juvenile Court delinquency proceedings. Also provides constitutionally mandated legal services to indigent - parents involved in Juvenile Court dependency and termination proceeding and - to persons detained for involuntary civil commitment proceedings at Western State Hospital and other evaluation and treatment facilities. Examples include: - Criminal matters which could result in jail time: Felony offenses, Gross Misdemeanor, Misdemeanors, and Probation Violations. - Juvenile delinquency which could result in jail time. - Juvenile Dependency: where parents have had their child/children removed from their custody.

Provides services related to probation administration for low- and high-risk criminal cases, non-criminal civil infractions and public defender services.  Presiding judge is authorized by law to perform wedding ceremonies.

Municipal court is a court of limited jurisdiction.   Municipal court judge is authorized by Washington state statute to preside over criminal misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic infractions and other city of Renton code violations. Also handles vehicle impounds.   The municipal court does not do the following:   -  Small claims cases -  Civil cases -  Change-of-name cases   -  Issue marriage licenses

Operates a court of limited jurisdiction. The court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencing and reviews. Provides related services including probation supervision and public defense screener services.

The Court handles traffic and nontraffic criminal misdemeanor cases, traffic and nontraffic infractions and school zone and parking violations filed with the Kirkland Municipal Court. Criminal Citations: If a criminal misdemeanor citation is received in the mail or from a police officer for Kirkland Municipal Court, a court hearing is mandatory. If you have questions, you may contact the Court to inquiry if your hearing is required in-person or by a Zoom hearing. Failure to appear will result in a warrant being issued for the violator's arrest. Look for your arraignment court date on the citation. If no court date is written, the Court will issue a summons for your court date within two-to-three weeks. Call the Court if you’re unsure of your court date. Traffic Infraction Citations: The Individual who received the citation must respond within 30 days by either requesting a hearing, paying the fine in full or contacting the court to inquiry about a payment plan. After 30 days, a late penalty is added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency and may result in a driver's license suspension. School Zone and Parking Citation: The Individual who received the citation must respond within 30 days by either requesting a hearing, paying the fine in full or contacting the court to inquiry about a payment plan. After 30 days a late penalty is added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency. The driver is denied new license tabs until all fines are paid.

Provides legal representation to those who meet financial eligibility criteria and have been charged with a crime involving possible incarceration.

Provides court-ordered assigned counsel for eligible clients. Handles criminal matters and dependency cases.

SeaTac Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. The court judge presides over: - Civil and traffic infractions - Criminal misdemeanors - Gross misdemeanors   The court provides related services, including:   - Free legal representation for indigent persons - Court Support Service Supervision   - Public defense screener services - DVMRT classes - Port of Seattle contract for Municipal Court Services - Resource Center

Criminal Citations:   - If a citation is received from a Mercer Island or Newcastle police officer or in the mail, a court appearance is mandatory.   - Failure to appear will result in a warrant being issued for the violator's arrest. Look for an arraignment date in the lower left-hand portion of the citation. If no date appears, the court will issue a summons to appear in court within two to three weeks.   Bench Warrants or Failure to Appear:   - Please contact the court for instructions.   Traffic Infractions:   - Individuals must respond within 30 days by either requesting a hearing or paying the fine in full.   - After 30 days, a $52 late penalty will be added. - Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency and may result in a driver's license suspension.   Parking Tickets:   - A person must respond to a parking ticket within 30 days by requesting a hearing or paying the fine in full.   - After 30 days a $25 late penalty is added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency.   The driver is denied new license tabs until all fines are paid.

The Public Defender's Office provides indigent criminal defense services in Whatcom County Superior, District, and Juvenile Courts. It also represents parents in dependency matters and individuals in mental health and alcohol commitment proceedings.

Municipal court provides services related to civil traffic infractions and all criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor incidents that occur within the city of Des Moines and are filed with the court.   Court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, nonjury and jury trials, sentencing, etc.  Also provides related services including legal representation for indigent individuals and probation supervision.

Appoints attorneys through the Federal Public Defender's office to represent individuals who cannot afford counsel in a variety of circumstances. These include, among others, individuals suspected of, charged with, or indicted for a federal offense as well as individuals contacted to testify or be a witness in front of the Grand Jury in a federal case.

Operates a court of limited jurisdiction which hears cases involving violations, including, but not limited to: criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges (domestic violence offenses, assault, theft, drug offenses, etc.); criminal traffic, traffic infractions and parking violations that occur in the city of Enumclaw. Does not file small claims or civil cases, protection, or restraining orders. Judge can perform marriage ceremonies.

Has jurisdiction over criminal misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, infractions and parking violations. The Municipal Court offers a number of services for defendants under court order to comply with conditions of probation, as well as, services and resources for victims. Victims of domestic violence may obtain Temporary Restraining Orders via web using the kiosk provided by Pierce County Superior Court.

Hears cases for criminal misdemeanors and processes parking and non-criminal traffic citations occurring within the city limits of Kent and Maple Valley.  Offers public defender services for misdemeanor defendants.
