Consumer service center provides the public with general information about property casualty insurance and acts as a liaison between consumers and member insurance companies.

Programs that issue insurance policies to homeowners and renters to protect them from loss of property due to theft, destruction or the inability to meet mortgage obligations. Also included are programs that help people obtain a home insurance policy.

Home Insurance

Organizations that issue insurance policies which indemnify the holder against loss or damage to a motor vehicle caused by fire, windstorm, collision or other insurable hazards, and against legal liability for personal injuries or damage to property resulting from operation of the vehicle. Automobile insurance requirements are established at the state level and vary in terms of the type and level of coverage that may be necessary.

Automobile Insurance

Programs that accept and, where possible, attempt to resolve complaints regarding the licensing, services, unethical or improper conduct of personnel or other inappropriate business practices of companies that sell insurance or settle insurance claims.

Insurance Complaints

Programs that provide a hotline, website or other mechanisms that the public can use to report, usually anonymously, individuals who have made false statements or otherwise intentionally misrepresented the facts surrounding an injury or loss in order to receive or increase the amount of compensation they will receive based on an insurance policy. Also included are programs that accept reports of fraudulent claims submitted by health care providers, pharmacies, auto repair shops and other parties that are providing services for insured individuals and using their insurance as a means of payment.

Insurance Fraud Reporting

Website provides information on all aspects of Medicare, including how to apply, find and compare healthcare providers, make address changes and resolve Medicare card issues, get help with costs, find out how Medicare works with other insurance, and report Medicare fraud. The website also provides information on nursing homes, hospitals, home health services, and medical equipment suppliers. Phone line assists with Medicare billing questions and questions about claims, records, and expenses.

Medicare Information offered by United States Department of Health and Human Services at Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Provides information on Medicare, how to apply, how to find and compare health care providers, how to make address changes and resolve Medicare card issues, getting help with costs, finding out how Medicare works with other insurance, and how to report Medicare fraud.

Programs that link people who are in need of primary or specialized medical care with qualified medical practitioners.

Physician Referrals

Programs that offer information and guidance for older adults and people with disabilities regarding their health insurance options with the objective of empowering them to make informed choices. Included is information about benefits covered (and not covered); the payment process; the rights of beneficiaries; the process for eligibility determinations, coverage denials and appeals; consumer safeguards; and options for filling the gap in Medicare coverage (Medigap supplement insurance). Also available is information relating to an individual's eligibility for benefits and assistance with evaluating their options and enrolling in a Medicare plan (A, B, C, and/or D) that will best meet their needs. These programs also address coordination of benefits when beneficiaries have other types of health insurance in addition to Medicare (e.g. Medicaid, employer coverage or retiree insurance) and provide counseling and assistance regarding the subsidies that are available to low income beneficiaries enrolled in the Part D Prescription Drug Benefit (which help pay for Part D premiums and reduce the cost of prescriptions at the pharmacy) and the Medicare Savings Programs which help pay for Medicare out-of-pocket costs. They may also provide information about Medicaid and the linkages between the two programs, referrals to appropriate state and local agencies involved in the Medicaid program, information about other Medicare-related entities (such as peer review organizations, Medicare-approved prescription drug plans, Medicare administrative contractors), and assistance in completing related Medicare insurance forms.

Investigates allegations of fraud by workers, health care providers and employers.

Programs that provide a hotline, website or other mechanisms that the public can use to report suspected or substantiated fraudulent acts committed by employees of public or private agencies which may include theft, abuse of position, conducting personal business during work time, abuse of work hours, misuse of sick leave, claiming unnecessary or unworked overtime and similar offenses.

Employee Fraud Reporting

Programs that help older adults, people who live alone and other vulnerable individuals become aware of the scams and con games that are most frequently used to induce victims to part with their money or valuables. Common scams include fraudulent prize offers, "free" travel packages that have hidden costs or which never materialize, "get rich quick" investments that turn out to be worthless, tax debt/refund scams, phony charities with names that are similar to well-known organizations and schemes involving promises to recover an individual's money following their victimization by another scam.
