We serve the people of Oregon to empower and support Latinos through our special roles as policy advisors to Oregon state policy makers and leaders. The OCHA is a catalyst that empowers partnerships between state government and Hispanic communities in rural and urban areas to ensure success for all Latinos by addressing issues at the policy level.

Provides contact information for federal, state and local government officials.

Develops and pursues regional strategies for the development, protection and advancement of the interests of member Tribes and their people in the areas represented by ATNI committees which include: cultural affairs, economic development, human and social services, natural resources and environment, Tribal governance, and ad hoc task forces. Each committee and task force shall determine its own mission and course consistent with the operating policies and principles of the Affiliated Tribes.

Provides support to individuals affected by mental health conditions.  Also provides legislative advocacy by working for changes in the law to correct deficiencies in support, services and treatment of mental health consumers.

Assists in acquiring DD-214 forms.

Develops and promotes initiatives directed toward the financial strength, political support, and public awareness to achieve a successful business climate for dairy farmers in Oregon State.

Individualized advocacy services: Identify resource, navigate complex systems, research, and facilitation of communication/networking. Policy and community advocacy: Attend city and county council meetings and contact elected representatives and civil servants at all levels of government. Efforts are in support of policies and resources that strengthen communities and improve outcomes for consumers of the criminal justice system, as well as the families and neighborhoods most seriously impacted by incarceration. Offers workshops and presentations for community groups interested in learning more about incarceration and reentry. New Connections also serves as the fiscal agent for Pierce Community Partnership for Transitional Services (Pierce CPTS). CPTS is made up of agencies and individuals working together to support successful transitions for people returning to communities after incarceration.

Provides mental health advocacy, education, support, and public awareness.

Promotes sound cattle industry image and practices and assures a strong political presence to represent and protect cattle communities and private property rights.

Provides individual advocacy for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.  Will accompany victims of sexual assault and domestic violence to the hospital and to court; assist with paperwork/legal action; help find clothing, accommodations, and medical/legal services to which victims might be entitled.  Also provides legislative advocacy in various forms including letter writing and phone calls.

Assist veterans, their families, dependents, or survivors with claims to the Veterans Administration.  Assists with filing, maintaining, or appealing Veterans Administration claims/decisions. Assists in acquiring DD-214 forms.
