Early Head Start: A qualified home visitor will visit home once a week for 90 minutes to share fun activities designed to advance child’s development. Locally Designed Option: Offers a hybrid-- in-class and home visiting for 2 year-olds. Head Start/ECEAP Offers center-based preschool programs with locations throughout Kitsap and Mason Counties. Students may attend full-time/part year or part-time/part-year depending on need and availability. Breakfast or lunch is provided depending upon the time of class.

Extended hour childcare provided in local school districts.  Licensed centers include developmentally appropriate learning activities.  Literacy curriculum focuses on use and appreciation of oral language, printed language and listening comprehension.  Meals provided.  

KCR provides free preschool programs for children (ages 0-5) from income-eligible families and for children with special needs. These programs provide a wide array of services for children and families, including safe and affordable child care at many locations. Health, nutrition and dental assistance is provided along with education and developmental screenings for children.   Program Hours: We offer full-day options with extended day childcare and part-day options without childcare. Hours vary by center.  Benefits: Early Head Start and Head Start provides children with activities to build school readiness skills.  The programs set the foundation for future academic success in literacy, math, the arts, science and social interactions. The Early Head Start and Head Start staff recognize that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children.  Programs are locally designed serving children with special needs and values diversity   Programs are comprehensive: Education: Children learn the skills and concepts they need to succeed in school. Supports families in helping their young children reach certain educational milestones ahead of preschool. Through our partnership with ParentChild+, we pair families and toddlers with Early Learning Specialists who visit twice a week for up to two years. These visits help children learn skills to help them prepare for school and give parents tactics they can use every day to be their own child’s teacher. Early Learning Specialists also bring participants free books and toys that the child can keep.

Provides the first organized learning experience for children and attitudes formed by preschoolers will affect their future learning experiences.  Kindergarten teaches children the early education skills necessary for a successful future academic experience.  Highlights include field trips, imaginative art and literature, social problem solving and development, volunteer parent opportunities, solid phonics program, classroom computers and monthly chapel times.

Supports school readiness through play-based parent-child early learning activities and providing children's books and educational tools for home use. Provides 9 early learning events for parents and children birth through kindergarten and their siblings. Parent Education - Incredible Years Parent Training: helps parents understand how to build a positive relationship with their child. Available at the Wenatchee Family Resource Center or in-home. Currently provided through a contract with DCYF. Families are referred by their social worker. - Project Safe Care: boosts parenting skills, while teaching how to improve the health of the child. Currently provided through a contract with DCYF. Families are referred by their social worker. -Triple P: evidence- based program boosts parenting skills. Currently provided through a contract with DCYF. Families are referred by their social worker. - Triple Point: Local program for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex) youth, 12 to 18 years old. Provides a safe place where youth can make positive connections, learn about community resources, receive the support they need, receive counseling, as well as participate in regular meetings with other LGBTQ+ youth and group leaders. School Success - Readiness to Learn: works with children so they can be successful in school and in the community. Serves students in the Entiat, Eastmont and Wenatchee school districts. - Truancy Invention Program: gives students a boost to help improve attendance. Serves students in the Wenatchee School District in partnership with Chelan County Juvenile Center.
