Federally funded program Head Start, serving low-income families with pre-school children. Focuses on the needs of the whole child and his or her family. Offers a pre-school experience while helping parents develop skills as teacher, parent, and advocate for themselves and their child(ren). Connects families to health, dental, mental health, family and nutrition services. Families participate in parent engagement activities as well as social services. Several options of pre-school are available: - Half-day Preschool: Children attend the pre-school experience 3.5hrs, 4 days per week. - School Day: Children attend 6.5hrs, 4/5 days per week. Programs available based on service area. Follows school-year calendar, not available year-round. No childcare services are available. Special Services in Head Start: Program also serves special needs children. 10% (minimum) of enrollment openings are reserved for children with disabilities. Offers an early learning center that opens during the day. Helps children in their early learning and prepared them for kindergarten. Children prepare for success in school while their mothers are in class. Parents are encouraged to implement the early learning activities from the ELC to their homes and community.

Provides a free program for children and adults to play together. Designed for parents, grandparents, neighbors, family and friends who nurture children, aged 6 years old and younger. Curriculum invites individual play, fun group activities, songs, and a whole group circle time for children and adults to enjoy together. Coordinates an early literacy home visiting program to help prepare young children for school success by: -  Increasing language and literacy skills -  Enhancing social-emotional development   -  Strengthening the parent-child relationship  Offers home visits in the family's first language twice per week for 30 minutes.  Families receive a free toy or book each week to keep.   Focuses on child development, parent-child interaction and preparing children for early school success. The two-year program is 23 weeks long from October to June, following the school calendar.

The Early Childhood Services at OlyCAP are focused on addressing the needs of families with children age five and younger.  Preschool, early childhood development, child care and family support services are offered at sites throughout Clallam and Jefferson counties.  Children enrolled receive a developmental screening, an individualized learning plan, at least two meals each day and an active learning experience on days they attend the center.  In addition to children services, each family enrolled receives support in accessing medical and dental care for their child, parenting education, home visits and help with finding needed services or resources in the community.
