Works with students to explore career options and develop a plan to achieve academic and professional goals. Career Planner Services assists students in discovering and clarifying career goals and linking them with educational and training programs.   Offers career assessments, as well as a variety of career-related workshops and individual appointments. Educational Planning Services provide academic and professional/technical advising.   The educational planning process helps students develop educational plans, interpret program requirements, choose a program of study, and/or plan for transfer to a four-year institution.

Assists prospective students learn about and register for college programs and degrees.  The program staff members help students choose classes and class loads that match their skill level; teach study skills; provides referrals to tutoring, counseling, and advising; and helps students who want to transfer to four year colleges.

Latinos Unidos en Acción ALIANZA (L.U.N.A.A) is a comprehensive youth/ young adults engagement program that provides guidance, representation, academic scholarships and mentorship to equip students to achieve their full potential academically, in professional careers and in their personal life. Offers academic mentorship, workshops, game nights, support groups for first generation students, and LGBTQ+ peer support and workshops for individuals and families.

Offers individual or group advising to assist in making career, education and employment decisions.  

Provides accommodation services to qualified students with disabilities. Requests for services need to be made each quarter by the student. Some accommodations require time to arrange so requests should be made 3 weeks prior to the start of each quarter. Lack of advance notice may delay the availability of some accommodations.

Student Support Services is a federally-funded program that helps low-income and non-traditional students be successful at SVC by providing academic and other support services.  Services include one on one tutoring, study skills instruction, computer literacy, class advising, and counseling to assist with personal, financial and career decisions.

Provides support and referral services for multicultural students.  Staff includes outreach and recruitment workers, and counselors who can help find housing, financial aid, career guidance, and other important services.

Prepares and encourages students to enter and succeed in college by providing a broad range of services. For Students: -  Early interventions beginning in middle school -  Tutoring during and after school -  Enriched technology-based curriculum, especially in reading, writing, and math -  Campus visits -  Motivational speakers -  Support from middle school through high school For Parents: -  Parent Involvement programs -  Leadership training -  Facilitating grass-roots community development -  Educational classes on topics including: courses required for college, college entrance exams, helping your child pass the WASL, setting high academic expectations for your children -  Workshops on: paying for college, applying for college and financial aid, writing the college application essay, and selecting a college   For Teachers: -  Staff development in areas such as ESL and reading endorsement -  Class room technology and curriculum

Offers educational assistance to high school students who are planning on attending college. Students receive tutoring assistance to help them improve their academic skills and prepare for college. Assistance is provided for students and their parents in completing college applications, financial aid forms, and scholarship applications. School year services include professional tutoring, college and career planning, college admissions assistance, financial aid and scholarship assistance, personal advising, monthly Saturday activities, and newsletters. Helps with exploring college majors, planning a career path, finding internship or job, finding resources to fund education, transfer advising, schedule planning, education goal setting. Summer school services include skills development, college preparatory instruction, high school graduation credit opportunities, college campus residential experience, educational and cultural field trips, and challenging supportive study environment.

Offers individual or group advising to assist in making career, education and employment decisions.  

Provides counseling, academic advising, job search assistance, support groups, an evening lecture series, and classes and workshops on a variety of topics, including job search, career choice, self-esteem, assertiveness, and women in transition. Offers low-cost introductory computer classes and resource referrals, an annual Women's Celebration, a multicultural International Women's Day event each March, and domestic violence awareness each October.    Offers WorkFirst Tuition Assistance Program for low-income working parents with books and tuition for classes that will help them advance in the workplace. Additionally offers Families that Work, which combines Basic Skills, GED Preparation, and English as a Second Language classes with computer experience, job search preparation and family management support. Additional support services are available to new moms.   Job Connections, an employment opportunities network, is free and open to everyone.

Provides educational counseling for adults seeking vocational training or higher education necessary for their employment goals. Common services include: - assistance with financial aid applications, - college applications, - career advising, - finding the right college, - college loan default advocacy, and - help with registration fees. Service is offered at many locations across Tacoma and Pierce County, including Clover Park Technical College, Pierce College, Bates Technical College, Tacoma Community College and MDC.

Offers multiple science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and career opportunities for young female-identified BIPOC women and non-binary youth ages 16-24, including career exploration, college and career readiness and navigation, academic and social-emotional support, paid and unpaid internships, industry tours and panels, and mentorship support.
